Which AI tool is best for HVAC Google Ads?
For an owner-run HVAC company with a few trucks, VibeAds is the best fit: it builds separate repair, maintenance and installation campaigns, blocks window-unit, filter and parts shoppers, tracks and scores calls, and sends leads to Jobber, from $20/month. Local Services Ads should run beside it, because HVAC is an eligible category and peak-season calls are worth paying per lead for. Google AI Max can widen reach on repair campaigns once tracking is clean. Ryze AI fits companies spending on Meta as well. Multi-location operators with installation sales teams often do better with an agency.
What changes the answer is your mix of work. A repair-and-maintenance shop needs fast, call-first campaigns that follow the weather. An install-heavy company needs revenue data in Google, because a system replacement and a capacitor swap both start as one phone call.

What HVAC searches cost in 50 cities
| Keyword | Cities priced | Median low bid | Median high bid | What it signals |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| air conditioner repair | 50 | $23.55 | $80.00 | AC is down |
| ac repair near me | 49 | $21.13 | $79.03 | AC is down, nearby |
| hvac repair | 30 | $24.00 | $81.09 | System problem |
| hvac companies near me | 37 | $17.95 | $73.67 | Choosing a company |
| ac unit maintenance | 44 | $17.66 | $64.84 | Tune-up, planned |
| air conditioner installation | 18 | $11.93 | $60.49 | New system, planned |
| ac compressor repair | 10 | $7.72 | $31.61 | Diagnosed failure, comparing |
| air conditioning unit | 10 | $0.86 | $13.16 | Shopping for equipment |
| mini splits ac | 46 | $0.34 | $5.27 | Shopping for equipment |
Bid figures are Google Keyword Planner top-of-page bid estimates pulled for 50 US cities in September 2026. They are what advertisers bid to reach the top of the page, not what a click costs you; your real cost per click is usually lower and moves with Quality Score.
A caution on timing: this pull ran in September, at the end of cooling season, and cooling terms dominate it. About 94% of the priced head-term searches were cooling-related, and "furnace repair" was priced in only 7 cities. Do not use these figures to set winter heating bids; check Keyword Planner for your city in October.
The repair terms are where money concentrates. "Air conditioner repair" carried a $80.00 median high bid, close to "hvac repair". Maintenance ran lower, which makes tune-up campaigns a cheaper way to start customer relationships before summer. Equipment searches like "mini splits ac" were priced near zero: those people are shopping online.
City spread
| City | Median low bid | Median high bid | Priced keywords | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Highest | Mesa | $43.68 | $117.81 | 227 |
| Highest | Tulsa | $14.30 | $108.08 | 158 |
| Highest | Jacksonville | $17.52 | $80.40 | 350 |
| Middle of 50 cities | $4.96 | $34.42 | ||
| Lowest | El Paso | $2.34 | $7.92 | 214 |
| Lowest | New York | $2.40 | $9.63 | 842 |
| Lowest | Long Beach | $3.62 | $12.48 | 176 |
HVAC had the widest city spread of any trade in our data. Mesa's median top-of-page range was $43.68 to $117.81; El Paso's was $2.34 to $7.92. Hot-climate metros bid far more. Local data pages: Houston, Miami, Charlotte, Los Angeles, Raleigh, Minneapolis.
Seasonality is the whole game in HVAC
Our budget planner's HVAC curve runs from about 30% below an average month in February to about 50% above it in July and August, with a smaller winter bump in heating markets. An AI tool helps most here if it shifts budget quickly. VibeAds' agent checks every campaign twice a day on Pro and Max and proposes budget changes, but budget changes always wait for your approval, even on Max. Pre-load a summer budget plan instead of reacting to the first heat wave.
Negative keywords that matter for HVAC
| Group | From VibeAds' HVAC starting list |
|---|---|
| Equipment shopping | buy furnace, buy ac unit, window unit, window ac, portable ac, portable air conditioner |
| Parts and filters | hvac supply house, hvac parts store, furnace filter, air filter buy, filter size, thermostat buy |
| Refrigerant DIY | refrigerant buy, freon buy, freon recharge DIY, mini split DIY |
| Calculators and specs | tonnage calculator, btu calculator, seer rating |
| Training and careers | hvac school, hvac degree, hvac license, epa 608, hvac technician pay |
Window and portable units deserve emphasis: in a heat wave, those searches spike and match "air conditioner" broadly. Our negative keywords guide for plumbers, HVAC and electricians has the longer list.
LSA or Search for an HVAC company?
Both. HVAC is on Google's Local Services list, and LSA's per-lead pricing suits no-cool calls in July. Search is where you control the install funnel: separate ad groups for replacement, financing questions and maintenance plans, each with its own page.
Landing pages and phones
During peak season, the landing page is a phone number with reassurance around it: service area, whether you charge a diagnostic fee, brands you service, and whether you have weekend or evening slots. Install pages are different: they need financing options if you offer them, a quote form and real job photos. Keep maintenance plans on their own page with what is included. VibeAds builds a page per ad group (landing pages video); pages built since September 26, 2026 have no A/B test.
Setup in order
- Track calls from the ad and the landing page; VibeAds scores each one so a warranty question doesn't count like a dead condenser (call tracking video).
- Split repair, maintenance and install campaigns with separate budgets.
- Set bids from your city's range and revisit them before each season.
- Load negatives, especially window units and refrigerant DIY.
- If you run Jobber, connect it: leads sync on Pro, and on Max paid invoices go to Google as revenue so installs outweigh service calls (Jobber video). Jobber is the only field-service integration; ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro are not connected.
- On Max, hands-free mode only makes small bid changes and blocks terms that wasted money for a week, after a campaign's first 7 days.
Where VibeAds falls short for HVAC
- Search only; no LSA, Meta or SEO.
- Budget changes need your approval, which matters during heat waves.
- Twice-daily reviews, not continuous monitoring.
- No ServiceTitan connection, which many larger HVAC companies run on.
- Google bills clicks separately from the plan.
Is Performance Max good for HVAC installs?
It can work for installs if paid revenue flows back to Google, because PMax optimizes toward whatever value it sees across many channels. Without that data it tends to chase cheap leads. Start with Search; see our PMax vs AI Max guide.
How much does an AI tool for HVAC ads cost?
VibeAds is free for one campaign, $20/month on Pro and $149 on Max. Ryze AI's Paid Ads plan is $89/month per its pricing page. Google's AI Max and Smart Bidding have no extra fee. Clicks or LSA leads are billed by Google on top.
