Updated October 9, 2026, by VibeAds' founder. VibeAds is one of the tools below; facts about competitors come from their own pricing and help pages, linked in the table.
Short version
Landscaping is two businesses in one ad account: recurring lawn care, where each click is cheap but the customer is worth a season of visits, and install and design work, where clicks cost more and one job can be worth thousands. The best tool is the one that keeps them apart. For an owner-run company, VibeAds does that, blocks seed, mulch, mower and ideas searches, tracks and scores calls, and syncs leads to Jobber, from $20/month. Run Local Services Ads too; landscaping and lawn care are both listed. Design-build firms with strong photography can test Performance Max.

The season decides the budget
The curve our budget planner uses for landscaping is one of the steepest we have, tied with pool services:
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Relative demand | 0.5 | 0.6 | 1.2 | 1.5 | 1.4 | 1.3 | 1.2 | 1.1 | 1.0 | 0.8 | 0.6 | 0.4 |
Launch lawn care campaigns in late February or March so they are learning before April, and switch winter spend to things you can sell in winter (design consultations, snow removal if you offer it, or nothing).
What landscaping clicks cost

| landscaping near me | 32 | $4.16 | $15.39 | Project, nearby |
| landscaping | 50 | $2.62 | $10.00 | Mixed: projects and ideas |

| landscaping rock | 17 | $0.17 | $1.92 | Buying materials |
Bid figures are Google Keyword Planner top-of-page bid estimates pulled for 50 US cities in September 2026. They are what advertisers bid to reach the top of the page, not what a click costs you; your real cost per click is usually lower and moves with Quality Score.
Mowing searches carried 32% of head-term volume but its median high bid was only $3.33, because many are one-off or DIY. "Lawn care service" bid $4.28 to $14.11, a better proxy for customers who sign up for a season. Aeration is a good upsell campaign in spring and fall; on its own, at a $3.07 high bid, it is often people pricing a rental.
| City | Median low bid | Median high bid | Priced keywords | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Highest | Austin | $3.53 | $14.78 | 285 |
| Highest | Arlington | $3.38 | $14.63 | 101 |
| Highest | Fort Worth | $3.92 | $13.38 | 273 |
| Middle of 50 cities | $2.81 | $9.97 | ||
| Lowest | Fresno | $1.77 | $5.11 | 104 |
| Lowest | Albuquerque | $1.72 | $6.02 | 132 |
| Lowest | El Paso | $1.79 | $6.19 | 107 |

Campaign layout
- Lawn care: weekly mowing, fertilization, weed control. Short page, price range if you have one, a form that asks lot size.
- Landscape installs: planting, sod, hardscape. Project photos, a consultation booking, financing if you offer it.
- Seasonal: aeration and overseeding, leaf cleanup, each switched on only in its window.
VibeAds builds these as separate ad groups with their own landing pages, so a mowing shopper never lands on a hardscape page.
Negatives
| Group | From VibeAds' landscaping list |
|---|---|
| Materials | plants buy, seeds buy, grass seed buy, sod for sale, mulch buy, fertilizer buy |
| Equipment | lawn mower buy, string trimmer buy, leaf blower buy, garden hose |
| Ideas | landscaping ideas, landscaping ideas pinterest, backyard ideas, garden design ideas |
| Jobs and school | landscaping jobs, landscaper salary, landscape design school |
The ideas searches add up: "landscaping ideas for front yard" and "backyard landscaping ideas" both appeared in our data with very low bids.
Where VibeAds falls short for landscapers
- It does not manage Local Services Ads, Meta, or Nextdoor.
- Jobber is the only field-service connection; LMN, Aspire and similar landscaping software are not connected.
- It does not schedule crews or route visits.
- It reviews campaigns twice a day; on Max, only small bid changes and wasted-search-term blocks happen without your approval, and only after the first 7 days.
Should lawn care companies bid on "lawn mowing"?
Only with a tight radius and a clear minimum, such as "weekly service from" pricing. In our data "lawn mowing" had the highest volume of any landscaping term, a median of 880 monthly searches per city, but bids were low because many searchers want a single cut or a mower. Recurring-service wording in ads filters some of that out.
Is Performance Max good for landscapers?
It can work for install and design firms with lots of strong project photos and enough conversion data, because it shows ads across Maps, YouTube and Display. For lawn care routes in a small area, a Search campaign with tight negatives is easier to control.
