Garage door ads need Google Advanced Verification first. Then: which AI tool fits, repair vs install bids in 50 cities, LSA rules and what to block.

Updated October 9, 2026. I founded VibeAds, so this has a bias; Google's rules and competitor details are linked to their own pages.

The short answer for garage door companies

Before choosing any AI tool, a US garage door company has to pass Google Advanced Verification. Google lists garage door services in the United States as a category that must complete it for both Google Ads and Local Services Ads (policy), and ads cannot serve until it is done. Once verified, VibeAds is the best fit for an owner-run repair company: it separates broken springs, openers and new installs into their own campaigns, blocks parts and opener-shopping searches, and scores every call, from $20/month. Local Services Ads come next, though garage door services get no pre-badge ads, so you wait for the full badge. AI Max adds free reach once tracking is clean. Dealers with showrooms and many trucks may prefer an agency.

Repair is most of the market, and it is expensive

About 66% of the priced head-term searches in our 50-city data were repair-related, against roughly 8% for installation and replacement. Repair terms also carry the highest bids:

Bid figures are Google Keyword Planner top-of-page bid estimates pulled for 50 US cities in September 2026. They are what advertisers bid to reach the top of the page, not what a click costs you; your real cost per click is usually lower and moves with Quality Score.

"Emergency garage door repair" was priced in only 4 cities, but where it was, its median high bid of $128.32 was the top of the list. Most people with a stuck door type "garage door repair" instead, so that term is your emergency keyword in practice. Install searches are fewer and cheaper, and "installation cost" is research: give it a separate, lower-bid ad group with a page that explains how you quote.

The middle city bid $7.17 to $29.55. Long Beach, Oklahoma City and Mesa topped the high end; New York, Philadelphia and Boston were lowest. Local pages: Albuquerque, Columbus, Miami, Oklahoma City.

Watch "springs" closely. "Garage doors springs" was priced in 41 cities at a modest $20.90 high bid; some of those people are buying a spring to fit themselves. Keep the phrase "spring replacement" and block "spring buy".

Local Services Ads for garage doors

Garage door services are an eligible LSA category, and the same Advanced Verification covers both products in most cases, according to Google's Advanced Verification help. LSA is good for the repair call where the homeowner picks the first trusted badge. It cannot separate a spring job from a full new door, so keep installation on Search, where you control the page and the bid.

What the landing page needs

A garage door repair page should lead with the phone number and the problems people recognize: a snapped spring, an opener that hums but doesn't lift, a door off its track. Say whether you charge a service call fee and whether it is credited toward the repair, if that is how you work. Show your business name exactly as verified. For installs, a separate page with door styles you actually carry, a quote form and photos of your work. Same-day promises only if they are true; misleading claims are part of what verification screens for. See the landing pages video for how VibeAds builds one page per ad group.

How to set it up

  1. Verify first, and keep the business name identical across ads, site and Business Profile.
  2. Track calls and score them so a "do you sell remotes" call is not counted like a broken spring (call tracking video).
  3. Three ad groups at minimum: springs, openers, new doors.
  4. Start bids from your city. Repair bids run high, so begin near the low end of the range and raise only where calls book.
  5. Jobber users: leads land in Jobber on Pro; on Max, paid invoices go back to Google as revenue so bidding favors the searches that pay (Jobber video). Jobber is our only field-service integration.
  6. Automate slowly. On Max, hands-free mode makes only small bid changes and blocks terms that wasted money for a week, never in a campaign's first 7 days.

Demand is flat for most of the year in our budget planner's curve, rising about 20% in December.

What VibeAds does not do here

  • It cannot complete Advanced Verification for you.
  • Google Search only; no Local Services Ads management.
  • Reviews campaigns twice a day on Pro and Max; it is not a live monitor.
  • No A/B tests on pages built since September 26, 2026.
  • Jobber is the only field-service connection; Google bills clicks separately.

Do I need Advanced Verification for both Search ads and LSA?

Yes. Google's policy lists garage door services in the United States under both Google Ads and Local Services, and Google says the same verification status can usually carry over between them when the business name, website and address match.

Is the high cost of "garage door repair" clicks worth it?

It can be, because repair searchers are ready to book, but only if calls are tracked and answered. With top-of-page bids that high, one missed call costs real money. Answer every call, or schedule ads to the hours you can.

Should garage door companies use Performance Max?

Rarely as a first step. PMax spreads budget across Display, YouTube and Maps and gives less control over which searches you pay for. Start with Search, add AI Max as a test once conversions are steady, and read our PMax vs AI Max guide before going further.
