Claude connects to outside services through connectors, and a connector is a remote server that speaks the Model Context Protocol (MCP). VibeAds runs one for Google Ads at https://getvibeads.com/api/mcp. Add it to Claude as a custom connector, sign in to VibeAds, and Claude can read your campaigns, explain what's wasting money, and draft new campaigns for you.
This guide is for Claude on the web, the desktop app and mobile. If you work in a terminal, the Claude Code guide is the one you want.
What do I need before I start?
- A Claude account. Custom connectors work on every Claude plan; the free plan allows one.
- A VibeAds account, free to create. Reading works on every plan. Drafting, importing, recommendations and publishing come with Pro ($20 a month) or Max.
- Google Ads connected to VibeAds for live numbers and publishing. If it isn't, Claude gives you a link to connect it when it needs one.
No Google developer token, no Google Cloud project, no API key. Claude holds a VibeAds sign-in you can disconnect; your Google login stays with VibeAds.
How do I add VibeAds as a custom connector in Claude?
- In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
- Press + Add, then Add custom connector. Name it VibeAds, paste
https://getvibeads.com/api/mcp, and press Continue, then Add. - Press Connect. Claude opens VibeAds: sign in and press Allow access.
- In a chat, turn VibeAds on from the + menu, under Connectors, and ask: "Show me my Google Ads campaigns in VibeAds."
VibeAds emails you when a connector is added to your account.
What can Claude do in my Google Ads account?
- Summarize each campaign's spend, clicks, conversions and cost per lead, and give the account a health score.
- Find the search terms that cost money without converting, and the ones that do.
- Walk you through the issues VibeAds' optimizer found, with the fix for each, and apply one when you agree.
- Draft a campaign (keywords, ad copy, ad groups) for your trade and service area as a draft that spends nothing.
- Import campaigns you already run so VibeAds covers them, pause a live campaign, and handle Google's own recommendations within VibeAds' rules.
- Add negative keywords or keywords, pause a keyword, or change a bid or a daily budget, each listed in VibeAds where you can undo it.
- For agencies: list every connected Google Ads account, including the client accounts under your manager account, so Claude knows which client you mean.
Will Claude change my budget or publish without asking?
No. Claude asks before any tool that changes something, and VibeAds' server enforces its own limits whatever the chat allows:
- Publishing a campaign within the daily limit you set in VibeAds (Settings, Connected apps; $100 a day by default) happens only after you confirm the campaign's daily budget in the chat.
- A bigger campaign, or a budget increase above 20%, comes back as a link you approve in VibeAds. Claude can't approve it.
- Google recommendations that raise a budget by more than 20%, switch to broad match before a campaign has the conversions for it, or add ad text with claims your business hasn't told VibeAds are refused, with the reason.
Which prompts work well in Claude?
- "Give me a plain-English summary of last week across all my campaigns."
- "Which three changes would save the most money, and why?"
- "Compare my two campaigns and tell me which one deserves more budget."
- "Draft a campaign for my HVAC company in Phoenix, $50 a day, emergency repairs and installs."
What if the connector won't connect?
- "Couldn't connect" right after Add. Check the address is exactly
https://getvibeads.com/api/mcp, with no key in it. - Claude doesn't use VibeAds. Turn the connector on for that chat from the + menu.
- Google Ads isn't connected. Open the link Claude gives you, connect it, and ask again.
- To disconnect, open VibeAds Settings, then Connected apps.
