Updated October 9, 2026. I build VibeAds, so read this with that bias in mind. Every competitor fact below links to the company's own page, and the bid data comes from Google's Keyword Planner, pulled for 50 US cities in September 2026.
What is the best AI tool for plumbing Google Ads?
There is no single best AI tool for plumbing Google Ads; the right one depends on how your shop runs. VibeAds is the best fit for an owner-run plumbing company that wants Google Search campaigns built for plumbing, with call tracking and Jobber, from $20/month. Ryze AI fits a business that advertises on many platforms at once. Google's own AI Max and Smart Bidding are free and worth turning on once your conversion tracking is clean. Local Services Ads are the pay-per-lead option that sits above the search ads. Unbounce is for landing pages, not ad management. An agency makes sense for a multi-crew shop that wants a person on the account.
Here is the short version, by situation:
- You do the plumbing and want ads that run without a second job: VibeAds Pro ($20/month) or Max ($149/month).
- You run Google, Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn ads and want one AI across them: Ryze AI (Paid Ads plan, $89/month per its pricing page).
- You already have tracked calls and steady conversions: test Google AI Max on your existing Search campaigns. It costs nothing extra.
- You want leads charged per lead rather than per click: Google Local Services Ads, run next to Search.
- Someone else runs your ads but your pages convert poorly: Unbounce for the landing pages.
- You want Google Ads and local SEO from one AI, approving every change: Sprites.
- You have several crews, a large budget and want a strategist: a PPC agency that specializes in home services.

How do the AI tools for plumbing Google Ads compare?
The table lists only what each company says on its own public pages, linked in the last column. Where a page does not state something, the cell says so rather than guessing.
| Tool | What it is | Price (public) | Plumbing-specific? | Calls and job revenue | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VibeAds | AI Google Ads manager for local home services: builds Search campaigns, landing pages, call tracking, CRM | Free plan; Pro $20/mo; Max $149/mo; you pay Google for clicks | Yes. Plumbing keyword sets, ad copy, negatives and city bid data | Call tracking with AI lead scoring on Pro and Max; Jobber lead sync on Pro, paid-invoice revenue to Google on Max | Pricing |
| Ryze AI | AI marketing platform across Google, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn and more; also SEO plans | Paid Ads $89/mo, 7-day free trial | Not stated; one product across industries | Not stated on the pricing page | Ryze pricing; vs VibeAds |
| Google AI Max for Search | An optimization layer inside a Search campaign: broader query matching, generated text, final URL expansion | No extra fee | No | Learns from whatever conversions you report | Google Ads Help |
| Google Performance Max | A goal-based campaign type that buys across Search, YouTube, Display, Discover, Gmail and Maps | No extra fee | No | Learns from whatever conversions you report | Google Ads Help |
| Google Local Services Ads | Pay-per-lead ads in a unit at the top of results, with the Google Verified badge; plumbers are an eligible category | You pay per lead, not per click | Category-level | Leads arrive as calls, messages and bookings | Local Services Help |
| Unbounce | Landing page builder with AI copywriting; A/B testing and AI traffic optimization on higher plans | Starter $29/mo; Experiment (A/B tests) $149/mo; Optimize (AI traffic) $249/mo | No | Not an ad manager | Unbounce pricing |
| Sprites | AI marketing agent for Google Ads, Meta, local SEO and Business Profile; you approve every change | From $66/mo billed yearly, $99 month to month; $1 7-day trial | Yes, has a plumbing page | Reads booked-job data from connected accounts, per its page | Sprites for plumbers |
| PPC agency | People who build and manage the account for you, often including LSA | Quoted per client | Varies by agency | Varies | Ask for a written scope |
A note on what "AI" means in each row. Google's tools optimize inside the auction but cannot see your phone calls or your invoices unless you send that data back. Third-party tools differ mostly in two ways: how much plumbing knowledge they start with, and whether they close the loop from click to call to paid job. That second point is where most plumbing accounts lose money, so the rest of this guide spends its time there.
Why is plumbing harder for AI than most Google Ads categories?
Plumbing is hard for AI because the same word, "plumber," covers a burst pipe at 2 a.m. and a quote for a water heater next month, and those two searches are worth very different bids. A tool that treats them as one keyword pool will either overpay for the cheap work or lose the emergency calls. Emergency intent also arrives mostly by phone, so a tool that only counts form fills learns from the customers least likely to be in a hurry.
Three things set plumbing apart:
- Emergency and scheduled work need separate campaigns. "Emergency plumber near me" and "water heater replacement cost" should never share a budget. The first wants a call now; the second is still comparing prices.
- The phone is the conversion. Someone with water on the floor does not fill in a form. If calls are not tracked and scored, Smart Bidding learns from whoever does fill in forms, which skews toward price shoppers.
- Local prices vary more than most trades. The same keyword can be several times more expensive in one metro than another, as the data below shows. A national average is a poor starting bid.
What do plumbing keywords actually cost by city?
Plumbing keyword prices swing widely between cities. Across the 49 cities in our data with enough priced keywords to trust, the cheapest median top-of-page bid range was El Paso at $3.00 to $10.06, the highest high-end medians were Tulsa ($68.34), Colorado Springs ($67.37) and Phoenix ($66.45), and the middle city sat at about $8.26 to $37.65. Those figures come from Google's Keyword Planner, pulled in September 2026 for 50 US cities. New Orleans was dropped because it had too few priced keywords to give a stable median.
One caution before reading the tables: these are top-of-page bid estimates, not what you pay per click. Keyword Planner reports the range advertisers bid to appear at the top of the page. Actual cost per click is usually lower, and it depends on your Quality Score and competition at that moment. Use these to set a starting bid and to compare intent, not to forecast your bill.
Head terms, median across the cities where Google priced them:
| Keyword | Cities priced | Median low bid | Median high bid | What the intent is |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| emergency plumber near me | 36 | $42.90 | $123.67 | Emergency, call now |
| emergency plumber | 37 | $44.13 | $112.34 | Emergency, call now |
| water heater repair near me | 16 | $27.64 | $93.81 | Urgent repair |
| plumbers near me | 49 | $30.92 | $92.56 | Mixed: urgent and shopping |
| water heater repair | 42 | $26.58 | $83.22 | Urgent repair |
| plumber | 49 | $24.15 | $82.99 | Mixed, needs negatives |
| garbage disposal repair | 29 | $12.22 | $57.20 | Scheduled repair |
| water heater replacement cost | 14 | $3.08 | $20.88 | Research, comparing prices |
| toilet bowl fill valve replacement | 18 | $0.12 | $10.51 | Mostly DIY |
The pattern is the useful part. In 34 of the 45 cities where Google priced an emergency term, an emergency keyword carried the highest high-end bid of any head term; in most of the rest, water heater repair or "plumbers near me" edged it. Scheduled repairs sit in the middle, and "cost" and part-replacement searches are cheap because few plumbers want them. Cheap is not the same as good: a "fill valve replacement" searcher is usually heading to a hardware store.
Selected cities, "emergency plumber" top-of-page bid range:
| City | Low | High | Priced keywords behind the city median |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phoenix | $104.77 | $243.80 | 320 |
| Denver | $84.63 | $212.50 | 352 |
| Milwaukee | $25.87 | $174.63 | 116 |
| Chicago | $23.25 | $72.87 | 349 |
In El Paso, "emergency plumber near me" was $8.66 to $23.94, a fraction of the Phoenix range for the same words. That is why a plumbing tool should start from local data rather than one national number. City breakdowns: Denver, Chicago, Milwaukee and El Paso.
Which negative keywords should a plumbing campaign start with?
A plumbing campaign should launch with negatives that block job seekers, DIY researchers, parts shoppers and training searches, because those queries match "plumber" and "plumbing" constantly and almost never book a job. Add them before the first dollar is spent, then review the search terms report weekly for new ones.
| Group | Starter negatives | Why they waste money |
|---|---|---|
| Jobs and training | jobs, hiring, salary, apprentice, school, course, license, union | Plumbers looking for work, not homeowners |
| DIY | how to, diy, yourself, video, youtube, tutorial | They plan to fix it themselves |
| Parts and retail | home depot, lowes, parts, supply, wholesale, fill valve | Shopping for a part, not a plumber |
| Free and info | free, cheap, code, definition, meaning | Low intent or no buying intent |
| Wrong service | pool, septic pumping (if you don't offer it), irrigation | Services you do not sell |
Two cautions. Do not block "cost" outright if you sell water heater replacements, since some of those researchers do book; put them in a separate, lower-bid ad group instead. And match negatives to the services you actually turn away. The full list by trade is in our plumber, HVAC and electrician negative keywords guide, and you can generate one for your services with the free negative keyword tool.
Should a plumber use Local Services Ads or Search ads?
Most plumbers should run both, because they do different jobs. Local Services Ads charge per lead and sit above the regular search ads with the Google Verified badge, which suits emergency calls from people who pick the first trusted name. Search ads charge per click but let you choose keywords, write the ad, control the landing page and split emergency from scheduled work. LSA cannot be steered at the keyword level the way Search can.
| Local Services Ads | Search ads | |
|---|---|---|
| You pay for | A lead (call, message or booking) | A click |
| Placement | Local Services unit at the top | Search ads |
| Control | Service types, area, budget, hours | Keywords, match types, ad copy, landing page, bids, schedule |
| Trust signal | Google Verified badge after screening | Your ad copy, reviews in assets |
| Who manages it | You, Google, or an agency | You, an AI tool, or an agency |
VibeAds manages Search campaigns, not LSA. If you run LSA, keep it running and let Search cover the keywords and services LSA does not reach, such as water heater installs and specific repairs.
How do you close the loop from Google Ads to paid plumbing jobs?
You close the loop by sending Google three increasingly useful signals: that a call or form happened, that it was a real customer, and what the job was finally worth. Most plumbing accounts stop at the first one. Each step up gives Smart Bidding a truer picture of which searches pay.
- Count calls and forms. The minimum. Without it, automated bidding has nothing to learn from.
- Score the calls. A two-minute call from a parts salesman and a two-minute call about a burst pipe look identical to Google. AI call scoring separates them, so only real customers count as conversions. Watch the call tracking video to see it on a real call.
- Report the revenue. When the job's invoice is paid in your field-service software, send that value back to Google against the original click. Then bidding learns that a water heater replacement is worth more than a fill-valve question.
In VibeAds, steps 1 and 2 are on Pro: tracking numbers, recordings with a consent notice, transcripts and a 0 to 100 lead score, with qualified calls reported to Google Ads. Step 3 works with Jobber, which is our only live field-service integration today: new leads land in Jobber as a client and a request on Pro, and paid invoices go back to Google as revenue on Max. The Jobber video shows the round trip, and the Jobber guide explains the setup. If you use ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro, we do not connect to them yet; you can still upload offline conversions to Google yourself.
How do you set up AI Google Ads for a plumbing business?
Set up AI Google Ads for plumbing in seven steps: fix tracking first, split emergency from scheduled work, start from local bids, add negatives, send each ad group to a matching page, then let automation take over gradually once conversions are flowing. The order matters, because every AI tool, Google's included, learns from the conversions you feed it.
- Install conversion tracking before spending. Track calls from ads, calls from the landing page and form fills as separate conversion actions. VibeAds sets up Google Tag Manager, GA4 and the conversion actions when it publishes a campaign; the conversion tracking video shows how.
- Build two campaigns, not one. An emergency campaign (emergency plumber, burst pipe, 24 hour plumber, no hot water) and a scheduled one (water heater installation, drain cleaning, garbage disposal repair, repiping). Give them separate budgets so a quiet emergency week does not drain the scheduled work, or the other way round.
- Start bids from your city, not a national average. Use the city data above or Keyword Planner for your own area. Begin near the low end of the top-of-page range and move up only where calls come in.
- Use phrase and exact match at launch. Broad match and AI Max search term matching work best once there is conversion history to guide them. Turn them on later as a test.
- Load your negatives. The starter list above, plus any services you do not offer.
- Match each ad group to its own page. An emergency click should land on a page with one large call button; a water heater click on a page about water heaters. VibeAds builds one page per ad group from plumbing templates.
- Hand over to automation in stages. Once you have steady tracked calls, move from Maximize Clicks or manual bids to Maximize Conversions, then consider a target cost per lead. On VibeAds Max, hands-free mode applies only small bid changes and blocks search terms that have spent money for a week without a lead, and only after a campaign's first 7 days; budgets, pauses, new keywords and new ads always ask you first.

Is Google AI Max good for plumbers?
Google AI Max can be good for plumbers once conversion tracking is reliable, because its broader matching finds searches your keyword list missed. It is risky on a new account, because it can also rewrite ad text and send clicks to other pages on your site. Google's own documentation notes that with final URL expansion on, your pinned headlines are not respected, which matters if your ads promise specific things like a license number or a callout fee.
A careful way to use it: turn on AI Max search term matching in the scheduled-work campaign first, keep text customization and final URL expansion off until you have checked what it generates, and watch the search terms report for a few weeks. Our longer guides cover AI Max for home services and Performance Max vs AI Max.
What does VibeAds do for a plumber, and what doesn't it do?
VibeAds builds and runs Google Search campaigns for plumbing companies: plumbing keyword sets, ad copy, negatives, landing pages, call tracking with AI lead scoring, a lead CRM and conversion tracking, and an agent that reviews each campaign twice a day on Pro and Max. On Pro it proposes fixes and applies them when you approve. On Max it can make small bid changes and block wasteful search terms on its own after a campaign's first week, and every change can be undone.
What it does not do, so you can decide honestly:
- It manages Google Search only. Not Local Services Ads, not Meta, not SEO.
- It runs on a schedule, not continuously. Numbers refresh every six hours and the review runs twice a day.
- Big decisions stay with you. Budget changes, pauses, new keywords, new ads and bidding strategy changes always wait for approval.
- Landing pages built since September 26, 2026 have one version per ad group. There is no A/B test on them yet.
- Jobber is the only field-service integration. No ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro connection today.
- You pay Google for clicks separately. The plan price is the software.

Frequently asked questions
How much does an AI tool for plumbing Google Ads cost?
AI tools for plumbing Google Ads range from free to a few hundred dollars a month, before ad spend. Google's AI Max, Smart Bidding and Performance Max cost nothing extra. VibeAds is free for one campaign, $20/month on Pro and $149/month on Max. Ryze AI's Paid Ads plan is $89/month and Sprites starts at $66/month billed yearly, per their pricing pages. Agencies quote per client. In every case you also pay Google for the clicks or leads.
Can AI fully run a plumber's Google Ads with no human?
No tool you should trust runs a plumber's Google Ads with no human at all. Good tools automate the repetitive work, such as blocking wasted search terms and nudging bids, and ask before anything that could cost real money, like budget changes or new keywords. You still decide which services to sell, which areas you cover and whether the calls are the jobs you want.
Do I still need call tracking if I use an AI Google Ads tool?
Yes. Call tracking is what an AI tool learns from in plumbing, because most real jobs start with a phone call. Without it, the tool optimizes toward form fills alone, and people with an emergency rarely stop to fill in a form. Choose a tool that tracks calls from the ad and from the landing page, and ideally scores them so junk calls do not count.
Is Ryze AI or VibeAds better for plumbers?
It depends on what else you advertise. Ryze AI covers many ad platforms in one product, which suits a business running Meta, TikTok or LinkedIn alongside Google. VibeAds only does Google Search, but it is built for home services: plumbing keyword sets and negatives, city-level bid data, AI call scoring and a Jobber revenue loop, starting at $20/month. A plumbing company that lives on Google search calls will usually get more from the specialist.
What is the best AI tool for plumbing landing pages?
If you want pages generated for you as part of the campaign, an ad tool that builds them per ad group, like VibeAds, keeps the page matched to the keyword. If a separate person runs your ads and you only need better pages, Unbounce is a dedicated landing page builder, with A/B testing on its Experiment plan and AI traffic optimization on its Optimize plan, per its pricing page.
How long before AI-managed plumbing ads start bringing calls?
Calls can start the day the ads go live, once the account is verified and billing is set up, because search ads show as soon as they are approved. Optimization takes longer: automated bidding needs a run of tracked conversions before it has much to learn from, which is why the setup above starts with tracking and tight match types rather than full automation.
