Picking a tool as an auto repair shop
For an independent shop, VibeAds handles the Google Search side: campaigns for "mechanic near me" and service searches like brakes, transmission and car AC, a negative list for parts stores, manuals, junkyards and car buyers, and call tracking with AI scoring, from $20/month. It does not connect to Tekmetric, Shopmonkey, Mitchell or any shop management system, so it cannot tell Google which calls became repair orders; you mark those in its CRM. Local Services Ads list auto repair shops and tire shops, though Google notes the Verified badge is not currently available for auto categories. Multi-location groups often use an agency or their shop software vendor's marketing program.

Cheap clicks, lots of volume
Auto repair had some of the lowest bids in our data. The middle city bid $2.09 to $6.79, and "near me" phrasing made up 53% of head-term volume:

Bid figures are Google Keyword Planner top-of-page bid estimates pulled for 50 US cities in September 2026. They are what advertisers bid to reach the top of the page, not what a click costs you; your real cost per click is usually lower and moves with Quality Score.
"Mechanic near me" had a median of 2,150 monthly searches per city at $2.19 to $7.52. Tire searches were 28% of volume and the cheapest; if you do not sell tires, block them. "Mobile mechanic near me" is a different service; block it unless you offer it.
The AC repair mix-up
Our pull also returned "ac repair near me" in 10 cities at $39.40 to $125.55, more than ten times the auto terms. Those are home air conditioning searches. Bid on "car ac repair" ($6.75 high) and add plain "ac repair" as a negative, or you will pay HVAC prices for calls about a house.

VibeAds keeps "certificate" off the universal blocklist for auto repair, since inspection and emissions certificates are services many shops sell.
Trust and the phone
Drivers choose a shop on reviews, distance, hours and whether they can get in today. Put your rating, hours, address and a call button at the top of the page, list the makes you service, and say whether you offer loaners, shuttles or warranties. Answer every call during business hours; at these bid levels a missed call is the most expensive part of the campaign. VibeAds scores each call and keeps leads in its CRM (call tracking video, lead CRM video).
Season
The curve our planner uses for auto repair is flat, within about 20% of average all year, highest in April.
What VibeAds does not do for repair shops
- No Tekmetric, Shopmonkey, Mitchell or other shop management connection, so no repair-order revenue goes to Google.
- No appointment booking or text-to-pay.
- No Local Services Ads, Meta or review management.
- Not a parts or tire e-commerce tool.
- Reviews campaigns twice a day; on Max, only small bid changes and wasted-search blocks run without approval, after a campaign's first week.
Are Google Ads worth it for auto repair shops?
Usually, because clicks were inexpensive in our data and the searches are local and urgent. The limiting factor is whether calls get answered and turned into appointments. Track calls from the start, so you can see which services pay.
Do Local Services Ads work for mechanics?
They can. Google lists auto repair shops and tire shops for Local Services, and you pay per lead. Google notes that its Verified badge is currently unavailable for auto categories, so your reviews carry more of the weight in that ad.
